What home charger does the Lucid Air need?

What to buy, 2022-2026
A 80 A charger on a 100 A circuit
Every Lucid Air from 2022 to 2026 accepts at most 19.2 kW (80 A) of AC power, whatever the trim. A bigger charger will not charge it any faster.

The Lucid Air is built to use an 80 A home charger on a 100 A breaker. Every Air from 2022 through 2026 accepts 19.2 kW on AC, which is more than almost any other car on the road.

Why 80 amps and not more

Here the big charger pays off. At 80 A a 2026 Air adds 60 to 83 miles of range per hour, thanks to its efficiency as much as its onboard charger. On a 48 A unit that falls to 36 to 50, still quick, but a full battery takes far longer. Lucid's own home charger is an 80 A unit for this reason.

2022451 to 520 mi66 to 756.9 to 7.3 h4.9 to 5.6

Level 2 figures assume a charger that supplies the car's full rate. Where a year shows a range, it spans that year's trims.

The Air has always had the 19.2 kW charger. What varies is range, from 361 miles on some versions to as much as 520 on the 2022 Dream Edition, and with it the fill time: 5.1 to 7.3 hours from empty at 80 A across the years.

What the install involves

An 80 A charger is a big electrical job. It needs a 100 A breaker and a hardwired connection, and many houses need a panel or service upgrade first. If that isn't practical, a 48 A charger on a 60 A breaker is a reasonable compromise for most daily driving.

Smallest adequate unit first. Every amp above what the car accepts is capacity it never uses.
