What home charger does the Ford Mustang Mach-E need?

What to buy, 2021-2026
A 48 A charger on a 60 A circuit
Every Ford Mustang Mach-E from 2021 to 2026 accepts at most 10.5 kW (48 A) of AC power, whatever the trim. A bigger charger will not charge it any faster.

Why 48 amps and not more

Ford's own home charger is a 48 A unit for good reason: the Mach-E won't draw more. A bigger charger adds nothing. A 40 A charger slows a 2026 from 26 to 34 miles of range per hour down to 22 to 28.

Level 2 figures assume a charger that supplies the car's full rate. Where a year shows a range, it spans that year's trims.

The onboard charger stayed the same across six model years. Range grew from 211 to 305 miles on the 2021 cars to 240 to 320 on the 2025 and 2026 cars, and most versions fill from empty in about 9.3 to 10.3 hours.

What the install involves

The Mach-E's charge port is on the driver's side front fender, so plan the charger location around how you park. Distance matters too. A long run from the panel to that wall means more heavy copper and a higher quote. The charger is hardwired to a 60 A breaker.

Common questions

Does a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E need a different charger from a 2026?
No. Every year accepts 10.5 kW, so the same 48 A charger fits.
Is a 40 A charger fine for a Ford Mustang Mach-E?
Yes, on a 50 A breaker with a NEMA 14-50 outlet. A 2026 adds 22 to 28 miles of range per hour on it instead of 26 to 34.
Does the Mustang Mach-E GT charge faster at home?
No. The GT has the same 10.5 kW onboard charger as the other versions.
How much does a 120 V outlet add to a Ford Mustang Mach-E?
About 3.6 to 4.7 miles of range per hour.
